As the Hockey season winds down for the Bulldogs, the team didn’t reach the heights they would like to compared to last season. With that being said, the future of the Bulldogs is possibly as bright as ever before, and Rockland has a lot to be excited about. Led by seniors Cooper Larouco, Danny Moran, Dean Alex, Ryan Maher and Ricky Esancy, they talked about how the chemistry in the locker room is at an all time high. “We found things that work for us like listening to the same music in the locker room before every game. We’ve been way more connected in the locker room, way more locked in before games” Winger Dean Alex said. “We also do a lot of team dinners on Fridays, we hang out after school, go support the other sporting events, you know we’re all great friends.” Danny Moran added.

Even with such high talent leaving, Coach Steven Murphy is really excited about the future of Dogs hockey. While players like Jack Blonde and Colin Rau are going to be known as the leaders of the new regime, Coach Steven Murphy praised Junior winger David Kane, and how he’ll be the X-Factor for the upcoming season. “His shot, I would go down as one of the best shots on the south shore. He does have some ups and downs, but it’s because he cares so much. He cares about the game, the team, and he wants to win, and he knows he can put the puck in the net. When he’s on his A game, not many people can stop him.” Someone that was slowly working his way into the lineup was 8th grader Owen Guevremont, and while it took some time to adjust to the speed and physicality, Coach Steven Murphy’s been impressed. “He’s starting to get more used to the contact, it's a big jump from facing 14 year olds and then playing against 18 year olds. He’s adjusting little by little and hopefully he can build on it going forward.” The same can be said for Freshman Jayden McQueen, as from the start he was thrown into a line with Dean Alex and David Kane, and has shown to be an immediate playmaker, and with 17 points in his career already, don’t

be surprised if that doubles come the end of next season.

But one person that has stood out to many people is defenseman James Levasseur. Being out for most of his Sophomore campaign and spending most of that time helping out WRPS Rockland with the hockey games, he gives off a charismatic demeanor, and it shows with his word like the talent show this past January. But not only is he great off the ice, he’s slowly become fantastic on the ice too. After missing a few games early on in the season with an injury, he came back and was an immediate defensive X factor for a bulldog team that desperately needed it alongside superstar Jack Blonde. “I'm good friends with James so this may be slightly skewed, but I thought he did great this year.” DJ Rocco from Rockland Said. “There have been a bunch of great defensive saves that have saved the game. The only thing I'd say is I would've liked to have seen a goal. Now, in regards to his senior season. I expect him to step up and be a leader for the team. He's always been a team player from what I can gather. I hope to see him be extremely successful next season. Also, follow me on Instagram @DJRoccoFromRockland”

Nevertheless. Rockland has a ton to be excited for when it comes to the future of Dogs Hockey.
